Take Action: Thank President Obama and Interior Secretary Jewell for Protecting Alaska’s Bristol Bay

President Barack Obama yesterday designated Alaska’s Bristol Bay and the North Aleutian Basin as off-limits for all future offshore oil and gas development.

Bristol Bay is an extremely productive marine ecosystem distinguished by bountiful fisheries and exceptional ecological diversity. In his announcement, President Obama said this action was “to make sure that one of America’s greatest natural resources and a massive economic engine not only for Alaska but for America, Bristol Bay, is preserved for future generations."

The president’s announcement safeguards the clean waters and vibrant ecosystem that sustain wildlife, the economic and cultural well-being of regional communities, and the source of over 40 percent of U.S. wild-caught seafood.

TAKE ACTION: THANK PRESIDENT OBAMA AND SECRETARY JEWELL FOR PROTECTING 33 MILLION ACRES OF MARINE HABITAT

For over 30 years, a broad partnership of the seafood industry, tribal and Alaska Native organizations, conservation groups, fishermen and fishing families, and people like you have fought to protect this part of our ocean. Please join us in thanking the president for offering a bright future for Bristol Bay.
